INRAE researchers were harvesting grasslands at the Phy2SUDOE S2 site (Chaban-Delmas)

In July 2021, INRAE researchers were working at the Phy2SUDOE S2 site (Chaban-Delmas, Parc aux Angéliques, France) to measure several plant parameters and quantify the phytomanagement progress.

Long-term field trials are implemented at this site, a part of the urban Parc aux Angéliques, to assess the phytomanagement of contaminated soils with grassland and several amendments. The Leaf Area Index was determined for all plots. Then the shoots of grassy plants were harvested in all plots. Shoot dry weight yield was determined for each plot. Then shoot DW samples were ground, wet-digested and shoot ionomes were determined after the analyses of shoot digests by ICP-MS. Foliar Se/I fertilization was increasing shoot Se concentration and decreasing shoot Zn concentration. Shoot DW yields were not significantly enhanced by either organic amendments (compost, compost and biochar) or foliar Se/I and Si/Fe-EDTA fertilization.
